Brookfield is investing in an inner-city residential project in the Marienburg district of Cologne. The Die Welle project is currently owned by property funds managed by the Empira Group.
Brookfield's investment will support the ongoing construction of the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The project will be built on the former Deutsche Welle site. 70 of the 752 rental apartments will be social housing, along with more than 600 underground parking spaces, 5,000 square metres of commercial space and a daycare centre. Sustainability is an important feature of the development, which is designed to achieve KFW 40 NH and DGNB Platinum standards.
Brookfield was advised on environmental aspects by Ambiente Deutschland GmbH.
